The Circularise PLASTICS plastic recycling partnership, established by polyamide supplier DOMO, materials manufacturer Covestro and supply chain transparency startup Circularise, has reached a new milestone
.
With the joint support of the founding members, Circularise has successfully developed a platform system for transparency tracking in the plastics industry
.
At the 2020 CES Consumer Electronics Show (January 7th to January 9th, US time at the Las Vegas Convention Center), the three partners will introduce the project to customers and seek new partners , working together to improve the transparency of the plastics industry and achieve a closed loop
.
Today, the solution enables manufacturers to create digital versions of materials with trusted documentation, allowing them to demonstrate the sustainability of their supply chains and build reliability and trust
.
“We are seeing more and more companies, from material producers to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), and brands showing a lot of interest in establishing open standards for
the industry.
The startup has already demonstrated the standard to BASF and Stanley Black & Decker in the "Circularity Challenge" acceleration camp
.
Thomas Nuyts, director of global product management at Domo, said: "The value of having this standard set by the industry, rather than just one or two companies, is that it avoids a one-size-fits-all situation and gives equal rights to all involved
.
Depending on where each party is in the value chain, they can expect different benefits
.
Covestro and Dormer are the main proponents of the terminal requirements for this pilot project and will work towards adopting the standard
.
After the pilot project is complete, the system can be used in the wider market, with the aim of creating a strong coalition of companies that will set industry standards for transparency including recycled content and other sustainable practices
.
