The United Arab Emirates Energy Minister Suhail bin Mohammed Mazruy said on the 28th that Russia is an important member of the alliance of major global oil producers, and its crude oil production capacity is currently irreplaceable, so the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) will maintain cooperation
with Russia.
When attending the Global Energy Forum hosted by the Atlantic Council of the US think tank in Dubai on the same day, Mazruy said that Russia produces 10 million barrels of crude oil per day and is an important member of
the OPEC and the major non-OPEC oil producer organization "OPEC+".
"Regardless of politics, this part of the capacity is what is needed
at the moment.
Unless any country is willing to provide (an additional 10 million barrels of crude oil per day), we don't think anyone can replace Russia
.
”
The Russia-Ukraine conflict and Western sanctions against Russia have driven international crude oil prices soaring, hovering at high levels after breaking through $100 per barrel
.
Western economies such as the United States, the United Kingdom and the European Union have tried to persuade OPEC members such as Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates to increase production further to stabilize oil prices
.
OPEC refused to adjust its planned production increase
.
In July 2021, the 13 OPEC members and 10 non-OPEC producers including Russia decided to raise their total daily output by 400,000 barrels per month from August of the same year until they returned to pre-production cuts
.
At a ministerial meeting earlier this month, the oil-producing countries decided to maintain their original production increase plan
in April.
Mazruy said the "OPEC+" cooperation mechanism will continue to exist, denying the possibility
of the UAE alone increasing production.
"Remain united, stay focused, and not allow political interference in the functioning of this organization .
.
.
In terms of (crude oil) production, we need to stay away from politics
.
”
In his speech, he also stressed that the Ukrainian crisis needs to be resolved diplomatically, "not by sending more weapons to escalate the situation, because basically the ultimate victim is the population.
"
The Associated Press interpreted that this remark obviously accused the North Atlantic Treaty Organization's policy
in response to the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.
