As part of new initiatives to develop the country's huge unconventional resources and reduce dependence on imports, the British government on Thursday laid out plans
to speed up the approval process for domestic shale gas drilling, Platts reported in London, May 17.
In a written energy policy statement, Greg Clark, the UK's secretary of state for business, energy and industrial strategy, said the recent decision on a planning application for shale exploration was "disappointingly slow"

"So we announced a series of measures to facilitate the decision
in a timely manner," Clark said.
