On November 8, French oil and gas giant Total announced that it had reached an agreement with energy group Engie to acquire the latter's liquefied natural gas assets
for $1.
5 billion.
Total acquires Engie LNG assets to become the second largest in the world
Total said the acquired assets include LNG transactions and liquefied assets
owned by Engie.
The deal will make Total one of the world's top LNG producers, increasing its market share from the current 6% to 10%, making it the second
largest globally behind Shell.
Total said the company also made additional payments of up to $550 million to prepare for an improvement
in the oil market in the coming years.
In October, the two parties confirmed negotiations
to acquire Engie's global LNG assets.
