Sinochem News on September 6, witnessed by the Iraqi Prime Minister, Total Energy signed an important agreement covering a number of projects in the Basra region with the Iraqi Ministry of Petroleum, the Ministry of Electricity and the State Investment Commission, committed to strengthening the development of Iraq’s natural environment.

It is reported that the contents of the three agreements signed this time include: new natural gas gathering network and processing equipment to supply local power plants; through the construction and operation of new production capacity, Total Energy will also use its expertise to optimize Latawi ( Ratawi) oil and natural gas production; in response to Iraq’s current water shortage situation, a large-scale seawater treatment device was built to increase the water injection capacity of the oil fields in southern Iraq without increasing water intake

(Because many oil fields need to maintain pressure through water injection, this will help optimize the production of natural resources in Basra); construct and operate photovoltaic power plants with an installed capacity of 1 GWp to supply power to the grid in Basra
.
Total Energy said that Iraq is experiencing power shortages due to the surge in residential electricity demand

According to the agreement signed this time, with the support of relevant departments in Iraq, Total Energy will invest in a batch of recovery devices to recover natural gas burned in three oil fields
.
