Trinseo has announced a partnership with Greiner Packaging, Europe's leading manufacturer of food and non-food plastic packaging, to advance the use of recycled polystyrene (PS) materials in packaging
.
The collaborative project aims to demonstrate the circularity of polystyrene by using recycled materials to develop and test recycled polystyrene packaging
.
“We are delighted to be partnering with Greiner Packaging and are encouraged by the project to close the loop on recycled materials
,” said Nicolas Joly, global business director for polystyrene and raw materials at Trinseo, “by increasing the penetration of polystyrene recycling.
"At Greiner Packaging, our vision is to design and deliver sustainable plastic solutions to create a more livable future world," said Gernot Desch, Plastics Product Line Manager at Greiner Packaging

.
● recently announced the establishment of the first polystyrene chemical recycling facility in Europe;
●Plans to supply European polystyrene packaging customers with materials with an average recycled polystyrene content of more than 30% by 2025;
●As a founding member of Styrenics Circular Solutions (SCS - a consortium exploring new ways to recycle polystyrene), Trinseo works with waste supply chains to find new solutions to increase the volume and volume of plastic processed and recycled through waste separation ;
● In North America, Trinseo's joint venture, AmSty, recently formed a joint venture with Agilyx called Regenyx LLC, dedicated to fully recycling post-consumer PS materials into new PS products
