Recently, Türk Telekom, Turkey's leading operator, has achieved 8Tb/s (8000Gb/s) service transmission on a single fiber of its commercial network, which is equivalent to transmitting 250 high-definition movies
per second.
The result has been approved
by Guinness World Records.
This Guinness World Record was born on a commercial dense WDM backbone network between Ankara and Istanbul and is based on Alcatel-Lucent's leading 100G optical transport platform, the 1830 PSS
.
In order to ensure the fairness of this record, the internationally recognized test center EANTC (European Advanced Networking Test Center) participated in the testing of this record as an independent third party and approved the final results; At the same time, the results have also been certified
by the ITU (International Telecommunication Union).
This result is not only the first Guinness record in the field of ultra-high-speed optical transmission, but also the world's first attempt to
fully load 8T traffic on a single commercial fiber.
Since the end of the last century, Turkish Telecom began large-scale basic optical network construction, in recent years launched the "digital transformation" strategy, in the face of the growing bandwidth needs of enterprises and individual users, Alcatel-Lucent's ultra-high-speed optical transmission solution is a good solution to the current problems
faced by Turkish Telecom in the basic network.
In addition to the Guinness World Records, Alcatel-Lucent's ultra-high-speed optical transmission brings even more value
.
As a leader and practitioner in the field of ultra-high-speed transmission, Alcatel-Lucent is not satisfied with increasing the transmission capacity
of optical fiber.
For transmission networks in the cloud era, Alcatel believes that ultra-high-speed optical transmission solutions not only need to have long-term smooth evolution capabilities, but also need to be more flexible and "sensible"
.
In the cloud era, backbone network traffic continues to grow explosively, and the expansion period of the network is getting shorter and shorter, but as the service particles become larger, the smooth evolution capability of the network will be an important consideration for the sustainable and stable development of the basic network.
At the same time, as the variety of Internet services becomes more and more abundant, user experience will be the key to the success of the network in the future, and only by capturing users can we support the sustainable development of
the network.
Alcatel-Lucent's 1830 PSS platform, launched in 2008, is the industry's first commercial optical transport platform to support smooth evolution from 10G to 400G and even 1T, and has helped many operators step from the 10G era to the 100G era, and continues to help some of the leading operators step into the 400G era, which has maintained the stability of the subscriber network and protected the subscriber investment
for a considerable period of time.
At the same time, in order to make the future basic network more flexible and "sensible", the 1830 PSS supports SDN architecture
.
The 1830 PSS can currently support intelligent transmission control, including flexible programming, dynamic adjustment of transmission resources, controllable optical layer encryption and other capabilities; At the same time, 1830 PSS provides an SDN northbound interface, which can support joint scheduling of IP layer and optical layer, making the future basic network more flat, easier to perceive network services, and laying a solid foundation
for the basic network to adapt to the service development of the cloud era.
