German EPC contractor Belectric has confirmed that its two PV projects totaling 460 MW in New South Wales, Australia, will break ground in the coming weeks
.
Earlier this year, Belectric's parent company, innogy SE, a cleantech company spun off from German energy company RWE, bought the projects for 400 million euros ($630 million), namely the 347 MW Limondale solar farm in the far west of NSW and the 115 MW Hillston solar farm
in the central and western parts of the state.
The two projects, two of 10 approved by the NSW Government in 2017, have no PPAs and the electricity they produce will be sold on the wholesale market, meaning they are likely to be Australia's largest commercial projects
.
Construction of the Limondale project is expected to commence in Q2 2018, while the Hilston project will start construction "at the latest" in Q3 2018
.
Both projects are scheduled for completion
by the end of 2019.
Through these two projects, Belectric's PV business in Australia will be greatly expanded
.
Some of the company's current projects in Australia include the 4.
77 MW Chillamurra solar farm in Goondiwindi, Queensland, a 10.
8 MW solar system in Barcaldine, Queensland, and a 3.
3 MW solar project in NSW
