Vega and BASF unveil concept helmet with scratch resistance and fire resistance

Vega and BASF have unveiled a concept helmet that it says will "demonstrate innovative material solutions and designs to enhance motorcyclists' >

The main focus of the project revolves around light weight and better ventilation to provide more comfort and safety for customers in the Asia Pacific region

The inner and outer layers of the new concept helmet use Infinergy E-TPU, which is said to have good shock absorption properties
.
Additionally, Elastollan TPU is used for the padding above the bottom ribs and Bluetooth, and while this provides a smooth and soft-touch surface, the company claims it has excellent abrasion resistance
.

When applied as paint protection films and electroluminescent (EL) light bars, Elastollan offers good clarity, scratch resistance and excellent durability, the brand says

In addition, Ultramid PA is used in housings, respirator and buckle assemblies due to its good impact resistance and mechanical properties

In addition, Ultraform POM for gears and other components has good sliding characteristics and good dimensional stability; Ultradur PBT is used for front air holes, component dust bags and filter bodies to provide good flow, aesthetics and outdoor durability
