For the application of conventional liquid silicone rubber products in sensitive fields such as medical treatment, food and baby care, in order to meet the requirements of relevant regulations, the products must be subjected to secondary vulcanization treatme.

Due to its high purity, ELASTOSIL® LR 5040 elastomeric parts are suitable for food contact applications and can be used in accordance with the recommendations of the German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR) and the US Food and Drug Administration (FD.
Without secondary vulcanization, the ELASTOSIL® LR 5040 product range has a hardness between Shore A 30-70 and the actual hardness does not deviate from the specified value by more than 3 degre.
