    Recently, the research group of Professor Kan Haidong and Meng Xia Youth Associate Researcher from the School of Public Health of Fudan University, together with the research team of Researcher Ma Xu and Associate Researcher He Yuan of the Institute of Science and Technology of the National Health and Health Commission, based on the national birth cohort, found that the increase of green space around the living environment of the research subjects was associated with premature birth.

    Green space is an important component of human settlements, and its impact on human health has received more and more attention


    Preterm birth, one of the most common adverse birth outcomes, is an important predictor of neonatal and under-5 mortality


    Based on the National Free Preconception Health Examination Project (NFPHEP), this study included a total of 3,751,672 singleton live births born in 30 provinces and cities across the country from 2010 to 2015, including preterm infants (PTB, 20–36 weeks).

    The study found that increased green space was significantly associated with a lower risk of preterm birth


    The results of stratified analysis indicated that the protective effect of green space environment on preterm birth was affected by the socioeconomic level and reproductive age of the research subjects

    In conclusion, the results of this study suggest that the increase of green space environment during pregnancy is significantly related to the reduction of the risk of preterm birth and its subcategories, and the increase of green space environment may have a stronger protective effect on the occurrence of preterm birth at small gestational weeks
