    The Macau Municipal Affairs Bureau was informed that Hong Kong announced that a sample of prepackaged purple jade Huaishan noodles was found to contain an antioxidant butylated hydroxytoluene that exceeded the local standard

    The Municipal Affairs Bureau is concerned about the incident and has immediately issued a food warning to the local food industry.

    The pre-packaged purple jade Huaishan noodles involved, the brand name is "Zhan Zhan", the origin is mainland China, the net weight is 270 grams, and the best date before the batch involved is January 10, 2023

    The sample was found to contain an antioxidant butylated hydroxytoluene of 1,040 parts per million, exceeding the local standard
    .
     
    Butylated hydroxytoluene is a commonly used antioxidant and can be used in precooked noodles, noodles and other foods
    .
    According to the test results, although under normal consumption conditions, it will generally not cause adverse effects on public health
    .
    However, it also exceeds the requirements of Macao Administrative Regulation No.
    7/2019 “Standards for the Use of Preservatives and Antioxidants in Foods”
    .
     
      For the sake of prudence, the IAM urges consumers to stop eating the products in question immediately to ensure food safety
    .
    In addition, the industry is obliged to keep records of food shipments or related documents, so that when necessary, competent departments can track the origin and flow of food, and cooperate with food safety work
