Air Liquide and Pao Severstal signed a new long-term contract to supply Cherepoves (Russia) with oxygen, nitrogen and argon
    .
Air Liquide will invest approximately 50 million euros to build the most advanced air separation equipment (ASU), which will improve the energy efficiency and overall environmental footprint of the Severstal production process
    .
? Air Liquide will design, build and own a new air separation plant located at the Severstal CherMK plant in Cherepovets, which will produce 2,000 tons of oxygen per day
    .
? This will make Air Liquide's total oxygen production capacity in the plant exceed 7,000 tons per day, making it one of the largest industrial gas production plants in the global steel industry
    .
The project will be operated by Air Liquide Severstal, a joint venture established in 2005 by Air Liquide and Severstal
    .
? Air Liquide engineering and construction team will use their most advanced technology to build this large-scale air separation plant, which is scheduled to be put into use by the end of 2020
    .
The new air separation equipment will significantly improve energy efficiency and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 20,000 tons per year, which is equivalent to the annual emissions of 7,500 vehicles
    .
This performance will help achieve Air Liquide’s climate goal of reducing carbon intensity by 30% between 2015 and 2025
    .
? The signing of the new contract proves our development strategy in major industrial basins
    .
This is the third ASU installed and operated by Air Liquide since 2007.
The signing of our initial contract reflects the long-term cooperative relationship and mutual trust between Air Liquide and Severstal
    .
"We are very pleased to strengthen our long-term relationship with Severstal
    .
Signing this major contract and renewing the original contract demonstrates our trust and confidence in our ability to create value for our customers and provide long-term performance, which is the key to ensuring profitable growth
    .
We are also committed to providing energy transition assistance to our customers by promoting low-carbon solutions for sustainable industries," said Guy Salzgeber, executive vice president and member of the Air Liquide Group’s European Industrial Activities Supervision Executive Committee
    .
? "With We continue to reduce carbon emissions and improve the energy efficiency of our production sites.
This contract further proves Severstal's commitment to sustainable development
    .
We are very happy to cooperate with Air Liquide, which puts our focus on environmental protection and takes a highly responsible attitude towards ecological protection," added Alexander Shevelev, general manager of Severstal Management
