On July 5, the new organic peroxide production base under Akzo Nobel Specialty Chemicals broke ground in Tianjin
.
Akzo Nobel Specialty Chemicals will transfer the organic peroxide production capacity of the existing Tianjin plant to a new production base in Tianjin Nangang Industrial Zone
.
The new production base in Tianjin, which is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2020, will expand production capacity by 30%-70% according to the construction of the production line to meet the development needs of the market and customers
.
Organic peroxides are essential raw materials in the manufacture of various polymers (including polyvinyl chloride and thermosetting resins)
.
"In Asia and even globally, the market demand for organic peroxides is still growing," said Li Zhiping, Asia Sales Director of Akzo Nobel Polymer Chemicals
.
According to Li Zhiping, in China, the organic peroxide market is growing at an annual rate of 5%-6%, much higher than the rest of the world
.
The products produced by Akzo Nobel Specialty Chemicals in Tianjin include a variety of low- and normal-temperature peroxides.
The main application areas of these products include the markets of polyvinyl chloride, polyolefins, curing agents and cross-linking agents
.
In the past three years, AkzoNobel’s polymer chemicals business has invested more than 180 million euros globally, through technology upgrades, capacity expansion, and production bases in China, the Netherlands, Mexico, Belgium, Italy, Brazil, and the United States.
