As the processed shrimp market continues to consolidate, Spain's Global Fisheries Company (WOFCO) has acquired a 45% stake in Continental Armadores de Pesca (Conarpesa), Argentina's main shrimp
    supplier.
The acquisition of a minority stake in the company is the result of a long-term partnership, as WOFCO has been one of the main buyers of
Conarpesa shrimp products for many years.

Conarpesa is one of the largest exporters of
    wild shrimp in Argentina.
The Argentine fishing company, which has a fleet of 22 offshore and distant-water vessels and four processing plants in Patagonia, is now part of
    WOFCO, Revista Puerto reported.

It said that through its cooperation with WOFCO, it hopes to further expand its presence
in the international market for ready-to-eat products.
"A good marketing company and one of the best fishing companies come together to form a whole team
    .
WOFCO is a young team focused on the current needs of the market", says
    the recently appointed director.

In WOFCO's growth strategy, the company is looking to open a new plant in Paraguay, which will require an investment of $10-12 million and increase its annual processing capacity by about 10,000 tons
    .
He noted that based on the raw materials provided by Conarpesa, WOFCO will develop and offer new ready-to-eat products
    .

WOFCO is also about to acquire the Auxiliar Conservera (Aucosa) plant in Chapela, northern Spain, which includes a 40,000 square meter site and a fishmeal factory
    .
Once the deal is finalized, the group plans to convert its existing plant into a new value-added products processing plant and move its headquarters there
    .

The company's main products include frozen tuna, squid, Argentine shrimp and sailfish
    .
With this acquisition, WOFCO will increase its ability
    to reprocess value-added products.
    Currently, the company works with
    16 co-packers in the region.
WOFCO's co-founder says WOFCO will have a turnover of more than 300 million euros ($292 million)
    by 2022.
