Ludwigsport, Germany, December 6 on the 25th anniversary of the launch of the Paliocrom ® for automotive and
industrial coatings
market, BASF held a series of celebrations, including a recent customer event at its Ludwigsport headquarters in Germany. Launched ® 1991, the Paliocrom ® is now available under the Colors and Effects brand and is a high-end aluminum powder-effect pigment with excellent cover.

industry. The Paliocrom ® product line not only offers excellent quality in terms of cover strength and color saturation, but also provides an excellent look for thin coatings. The Color and Effects team is constantly working to expand the Paliocrom® product range in the gold, orange and red ranges, such as the Group's recently launched Paliocrom ® Sparkling Red L 3505 products.
"It is our constant challenge to add color and cover to very thin automotive coatings without affecting adhesion, appearance and gloss," says Raimund Schmidt, BASF's senior head of research and development. Schmid was a member of BASF'® paliocrom development team and is still working to support the development of new pigments for Colors and Effects. "Our customers are asking us to continuously improve the effect pigments, especially reds that require higher color, brightness and coverage."
BASF continues to make innovative investments ® Paliocrom's product line. Since 2015, the Group has continued to expand the production capacity of Paliocrom® effect pigments in Ludwigsport, Germany, with an increase of more than 20% to a total investment of approximately EUR 10 million. On such a solid basis, the company is able to meet the growing demand for existing and new aluminum powder-effect pigments in the automotive coatings industry.
