Over the next five years, BASF plans to invest more than 200 million euros in capacity expansion and operational excellence in its global plastics additives business, nearly half of which will be spent in Asia. Plastic additives enhance product performance, such as abrasion resistance and light stability, and optimize plastic manufacturing processes. As a leading global supplier of plastic additives, BASF has manufacturing facilities in various regions and is an important partner in the plastics industry.
Professor Christian Fischer, President of BASF's Specialty Chemicals Division, said: "To meet the growing global demand for antioxidants and photos stabilizers, BASF will strengthen its plastic additives business by investing in increased production capacity. In addition, we will invest in digital processes and electronics to become trusted suppliers in all regions and better support our customers. The
plans to expand plastic additive production capacity at BASF's North American and European sites and build automation, electronic technology and digital modeling. In addition, BASF plans to expand its plastic additive production network in Asia.
innovation based on new chemical compositions
in addition to investment, innovation is an integral part of BASF's business strategy. At the leading exhibition in the rubber industry, Basildorf K, BASF Plastic Additives has released two new light stabilizers:
Tinuvin® 880, a medium molecular weight photostation based on new chemical compositions, which greatly improves light stability, especially in automotive interior applications, providing additional benefits for thermal stability.
The Tinuvin ® XT 55 provides formula designers with excellent durability and secondary features such as color stability, resistance to gas fading, and resistance to extraction. With this new solution, the composition of ingredients and other formulations can be adapted to the actual situation and expectations of the end application, resulting in excellent cost-effectiveness. Currently, products are being sampled in key customers.
