From January to November 2020, Bolivia's beef exports grew 261.7 per cent year-on-year, making it the fastest-growing export in the country during the period, according to official figures released by the Country's National Bureau of Statistics (INE).
Bolivian website"periodicobolivia.com.bo reported that Bolivia's beef exports reached $61.6 million between January and November last year, up 261.7 percent year-on-year, with the highest beef exports in November at $9 million and the lowest in February at $2.9 million.
Alejandro Diaz Salek, president of the Fegasacruz livestock federation in Bolivia, said in October that Bolivia's beef exports would reach about $50m in 2020, thanks to strong demand from the Chinese market, although the country's beef exports in the first 11 months of last year had exceeded Mr Salek's forecasts.
also noted that Bolivia's beef exports to China are "very smooth and the export figures are very interesting" and that China has bought more than half of Bolivia's beef exports.
It is reported that during the 2nd Belt and Road International Cooperation Summit in April 2019, the Bolivian government and the Chinese government signed the Protocol on Export Inspection, Quarantine and Veterinary Requirements for Bolivian Beef to China, and the first batch of 24 tons of Bolivian beef exported to China was shipped on August 28 of that year.
