BGI has launched a new research kit for the detection of COVID-19 Delta variants

The kit can detect L452R and E484Q mutations and can be verified on samples collected from oropharyngeal or nasopharyngeal swabs, sputum, or bronchoalveolar lavage fluid

BGI pointed out that its EUA kit will not be affected by the Delta variant, because the key mutation of the variant is in the SARS-CoV-2 S gene, and the target of BGI’s kit is orf1ab
