Breastfeeding can prevent obesity in adults |
Studies have shown that formula milk slightly increases the risk of infant obesity, but it is not clear how breast milk affects the health of children.
Carles Lerin of Sant Joan de Déu Children's Hospital in Barcelona, Spain has long studied childhood obesity.
It is reported that these babies are exclusively breastfed, and breast milk samples have been stored in previous studies, and the early growth and health of the babies have been recorded in detail.
To further determine whether betaine can control the growth of newborns, Lerin and colleagues conducted experiments in mice.
This effect is more obvious for pups with obese mothers.
The researchers were not satisfied with this.
EA Quinn, a biological anthropologist at Washington University in St.
A large number of previous studies have proven that the composition of breast milk can change the intestinal tract of offspring.
Lerin believes that the key to the problem is whether the effects on mice can also happen to human babies.
Another important question is how to help formula-fed babies.
In addition, the researchers also want to know whether the significant effects of betaine on Akkerrmansia can also work in adults.
