The SARS-CoV-2 pandemic has had an unprecedented impact on public health, social life and the world economyAs there are no approved drugs and vaccines, the demand for new programmes forCOVID-19treatment andpreventionremains highto identify SARS-CoV-2 neutralizing antibodies, researchers recently analyzed 12 cases of COVID-19 patients' antibody responses 8 to 69 days after diagnosisBy screening 4,313 SARS-CoV-2 reactive B cells, the researchers isolated 255 antibodies at different points in the 8 days following the diagnosisofdiagnosis, 28 antibodies can effectively neutralise SARS-CoV-2 (IC100 as low as 0.04 g/ml), showing a wide range of V gene spectrum and low levels of somatic cell mutationsinteresting, the researchers found potential precursors in the naive B cell sinks of 48 healthy people sampled before the COVID-19 pandemictherefore, the results show that SARS-CoV-2 neutralizing antibodies can easily be produced from different precursor pools, suggesting that there is hope for rapid induction of protectiveimmuneresponse after vaccination
