Autism is a neurodevelopmental disease that develops in infants and young children

Qiu Zilong's research team found a child with autism with a higher developmental quotient and no mental retardation in an all- exome second-generation sequencing project for more than 700 core families with autism

The research team combined a variety of animal behavior experiments and found that Senp1 heterozygous mice had the core symptoms of autism with social memory impairment and repetitive stereotyped behavior, but did not have symptoms such as cognitive impairment and spatial memory impairment

Team stereotaxic injection techniques using viral ethology binding was found in the RSA brain regions covering SENP1 protein or FMRP protein can improve Senp1 heterozygous mice core symptoms of autism

This study reported for the first time that SENP1, as a new autism risk gene , regulates the molecular mechanism of core symptoms of autism in the RSA brain region, providing important evidence for in-depth understanding of the genetic basis of mammalian social behavior, and for further intervention and improvement of autism The core symptoms provide new ideas

The research was mainly completed by Yang Kan, an assistant researcher at the Center for Excellence in Brain Intelligence, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Shi Yuhan, a postdoctoral fellow, and Du Xiujuan, a doctoral student in Xinhua Hospital affiliated to Shanghai Jiaotong University

Figure 1: The molecular mechanism by which SENP1 regulates FMRP dehaematization and affects the core symptoms of autism

Figure 2: This Chinese painting abstractly summarizes the main phenotypes of SENP1 that regulate the core symptoms of autism in the post-compression cortex
