Wheat stalk stalk rot is a soil-borne disease caused by Fusarium fungi.

Recently, the team of Professor Wenchao Zhen of Hebei Agricultural University and associate professor Ma Jun of China Agricultural University published research papers in the Journal of Agricultural Sciences (English)

This study used non-standard quantitative proteomics method for the first time to analyze and compare the proteome changes of Chinese wheat resistant varieties and highly susceptible varieties 24, 48 and 72 hours after inoculation

Further analysis revealed that the expression trends of 33 proteins related to defense, cell wall formation and photosynthesis were significantly different between resistant and susceptible varieties at multiple time points after inoculation

The research laid the foundation for further analysis of the molecular mechanism of wheat resistance to stalk base rot, and provided a reference for the screening of disease resistance candidate genes
