    On March 19, 2022, the Chilean Ministry of Health issued a consultation document on the revision of Article 23 of the Supreme Decree No.
    977/96 of the Ministry of Health on Food Hygiene Regulations on spices , condiments and sauces , and Article 2 on edible salt .
    Section 439 for public consultation on sodium sulfate

    The proposal proposes to amend "the sulfate content expressed as sodium sulfate shall not exceed 1.
    5%" in edible salt to "any edible salt may contain natural secondary products, and the content varies according to the source and production method of the salt, mainly consisting of sulfate, Carbonate, Bromide and Calcium Chloride, Potassium, Magnesium and Sodium Composition

    In addition, it may contain natural contaminants in varying amounts, depending on the source of the salt and the method of production
    .
    Without prejudice to the preceding paragraph, copper shall not exceed 2mg/kg (expressed in copper), and the combined natural by-products and natural contaminants shall not exceed 3% of edible salt
