Eduardo Papic, executive officer of Copefrut, one of Chile's largest cherry exporters, recently said that in order to welcome the arrival of the Chinese New Year in 2023, Chilean cherry producers have successfully advanced the harvest date, and the quality of this season's fruits is very good, and there are no problems
    with logistics.

Chilean Agricultural Network reported on December 23 that Papic said that from the available data, this is one of
the most successful cherry harvest seasons.
    Chilean cherries have been successful
in growing, improving fruit quality, and delivering goods to China in advance.

Specifically, according to Papić, "as of December 17, we have picked 75% of the cherries, and 70% will arrive in China
    before the Chinese New Year.
" In 2021/22, Copeferut cherries were exported by about 25 million kg, and in 2022/23, this figure may rise to 30 million kg, an increase of more than 20%, and early cherry production increased significantly".

Papić spoke highly of the cherry harvest this season, arguing that Copeferu has achieved its expected harvest and shipment targets
    .
"Unlike in previous years, we have less time (to prepare) due to the early Chinese New Year, but we have made a lot of efforts in the fruit processing plant to ensure that the harvest in the field is early and even.

Seventy percent of our cherries will arrive in China before the Chinese New Year, and the fruit is of good quality
    .
It can be said that it was a very successful cherry season
    .

"The season had a lot more smoothly by sea, there were not many problems, and we only experienced one schedule delay
    .
In addition, there are transportation disruptions
    caused by truckers' strikes.
But it was a good year
as far as fruit shipping goes.
    We started preparing
for this cherry season very early.
"When Chile's climate is as mild as this year, we can harvest cherries of higher quality
    .
" In this way, our fruit can quickly pass through the production line, which allows us to process a larger quantity of fruit
    at the same time.

"We are also developing other early cherry varieties to ensure mass production
    in the near future.
At this stage, we are testing and evaluating several new varieties and believe we can see results
by the end of the season.

However, Papić also pointed out some problems, "The 2021/22 season shows that we are still weak in many areas, especially in terms of operations, where our export market is relatively single
