On June 24, the Mauritius Sugar Association Syndicate held a video conference to promote the specialty sugar produced by Mao to the global market
.
Syndicate introduced that Mao’s specialty sugars accounted for one-third of the global supply and provided products to 55 countries and 120 suppliers.
The sales of 140,000 tons in the 2020/2021 fiscal year are planned to increase by 11% to 15.
5 in the next fiscal year.
The medium-term export target is 180,000 tons

The Mao media pointed out that the main markets for Mao’s specialty sugar exports are Europe and Africa, which account for 45% and 28% of the total, respectively, and 6% of sales to Asia

With the entry into force of the China-Mauritian Free Trade Agreement and the Mauritian-India Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, Mauritania will export more specialty sugars to China and India and increase the proportion of Asian countries in the export market

Syndicate CEO Ducla said that Mao’s export of specialty sugar to China has been around for a long time, and the China-Mauritian Free Trade Agreement has further cleared tariff barriers and will effectively help the sustainable development of the local sugar industry
