December 8, the latest technology of neurodevestration, "Directional Deep Brain Electrical Stimulation System", developed by Tsinghua University's National Engineering Laboratory of Neuro-Regulation Technology, was jointly conducted by Hainan Hospital of the PLA General Hospital and Tiantan Hospital in Beijing, affiliated with Capital Medical University.
This clinical trial combined with 5G mobile Internet technology, China's functional neurosurgery experts, Professor Ling Zhipei of The People's Liberation Army General Hospital Hainan Hospital and Professor Zhang Jianguo of Beijing Tiantan Hospital, completed the surgical implantation across nearly 3000 kilometers of remote interconnection, which is also the first clinical application of "directional deep brain electrical stimulation system".
DBS (deep brain electrical stimulation, pacemaker) therapy has become the standard surgical treatment for primary Parkinson's disease, with significant effects in patients with Parkinson's disease who have decreased efficacy of L-doba and have an involuntary movement beyond the control of the drug. Traditional DBS electrodes are implanted in the back of a person's brain and are stimulated by sending an all-way electrical pulse to the target of the brain through the contacts of the electrodes, which can sometimes have side effects while improving the patient's motor symptoms.
Tsinghua University's National Engineering Laboratory of Neuro-Regulation Technology recently developed the "directional deep brain electrical stimulation system", that is, based on traditional DBS therapy to take a more stimulation contact (directional) electrodes and stimulation procedures, aimed at finding more accurate stimulation methods to reduce the side effects of stimulation, and save the consumption of electricity. Clinical experts summed up its characteristics as "in the functional area, away from side effects."
DBS is a typical example of the use of state-of-the-art technology in clinical practice. Professor Li Luming of Tsinghua University led the research team to cooperate with clinical hospitals, medical companies and other institutions to combine scientific research, clinical and industrialization, successfully break down technical barriers, and developed a pacemaker product with independent property rights.
Qinghua brain pacemaker team applied for more than 400 patents, forming an independent intellectual property rights system of neuro-regulatory technology such as pacemaker. Not only that, in the rapid application of clinical applications at the same time, the team constantly listen to and summarize clinical experience, adjust the direction of research, in just a few years, that is, the first a number of unique technology, and gradually achieve technological leadership, reflected in remote program control, frequency inverter stimulation, high-field strong magnetic resonance compatible, AI and brain pacemaker and so on.
the success of the clinical trial of "Directional Deep Brain Electrical Stimulation System" has once again filled a gap in the field of neuro-regulation in China, and also reflects the rapid development of the interdisciplinary disciplines of medical workers in China.
