Under the support of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (approval number: 21976145, 22176206), researcher Song Yang from the Research Center for Ecological Environment of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the research team of Southwest University have made progress in the new mechanism of nano-silica-induced cardiovascular damage

Free silica dust, commonly known as silica dust, is a harmful factor for occupational health that exists widely in the industry

The research team discovered that the nano-silica exposed by respiration passes through the blood barrier by adsorbing pulmonary surfactants in the alveoli of mice and enters the blood circulatory system

This study reveals a new mechanism of nano-silica inducing cardiovascular damage, and provides a new idea for in-depth research on the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases induced by nanoparticle exposure
