    Optical observation
of the time domain of J1123.

Under the funding of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (approval number: 11925301, 11933004, 11973002, 11988101, 12033006), the scientific research team led by Professor Gu Weimin of Xiamen University and researcher Liu Jifeng of the National Astronomical Observatory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences used the massive stellar spectrum accumulated by China's Guo Shoujing Telescope (LAMOST) to discover a binary star system composed of neutron star candidates and red dwarfs in a static state
。 The research results were published in the journal Nature Astronomy on September 22, 2022, under the title "A dynamically discovered and characterised non-accreting neutron star - M dwarf binary candidate.

According to the theory of stellar group synthesis, billions of neutron stars
    exist in the Milky Way.

The team searched for and found a neutron star candidate from about 3,000 single-line spectrum binary stars with significant changes in the apparent velocity in the LAMOST low-resolution survey spectral database: LAMOST J112306.

The binary system is about a thousand light-years from Earth, has an orbital period of about 6.

J1123 is the first candidate for a static neutron star discovered through time-domain optical observations, and the family and physical properties of neutron stars contain rich information on the star evolution and elemental enrichment of the Milky Way, as well as important clues
to the origin of X-ray binary stars.
