On December 8, 2021, Clarivate Analytics and the Chinese Academy of Sciences jointly released the "2021 Research Frontiers" report to the world in Beijing, selecting and displaying 110 hotspot frontiers that are relatively active or rapidly developing among 11 highly aggregated university disciplines.

Among them, there are 4 hot fronts in the sub-fields of food science and engineering, which are respectively studying the application of plant antioxidants in the processing of meat products, the multifunctional food intelligent packaging film, the application of melatonin in fruit storage, and the effects of intermittent fasting on health.
