A clinical study by the Indiana University School of Medicine and the Regenstrief Institute examined the use of FIT (fecal immunochemical testing) in emergency and hospital patients, which looks for blood in the stool, which is a possible sign of colorectal cancer

"FIT is a cancer screening tool, not a test for symptoms, such as rectal bleeding, abdominal pain, or changes in bowel habits," the co-author of the study, the Regenstrive Institute and Indiana University Medicine Thomas F.
