A new review suggests that fructose may not be as harmful as some other studies suggest, and that it may even have many health benefits.review, published in Focus on Diabetes, analyzed
18 papers
assessing the effects of fructose in diabetics and found that whole fructose was effective in controlling blood sugar levels.
The researchers have even begun to see that the benefits of fructose will have no side effects on weight, blood pressure, uric acid (gypsy), and cholesterol levels.
John Sievenpiper
, lead author of the paper, said: "Over the past decade, fructose intake has been linked to obesity rates, but this study suggests that the crux of the problem is excessive intake, not fructose itself. Theanalysis inthis article is based on 18 trial results from 209 subjects with type
I
or
II
diabetes.subjects in all the trials ate specific diets (sprinkling fructose on experimental foods such as oats and coffee).experiment set the calories in foods containing fructose equal to those contained in foods without fructose.Dr. John Sievenpiper
and colleagues that experiments have shown that lactose's ability to control blood sugar levels is comparable to that of oral anti-glycemic drugs.
Adrian Cozma
, who led the study, stressed that "all negative perceptions of the harmful effects of fructose will not be self-absorbed as long as calorie intake is reduced." We are confident that if fructose consumption is not so large, it can benefit people. So we should focus on the concept of equilibrium regulation".
