Acrylamide (AM)/Acrylic acid (AA) functional graphene oxide (GOA) composites (GPAs) are easy to prepare and apply to magnesium alloy surfaces in one step.
researchers studied the co-polyurizing corrosion resistance of acrylamide and acrylic-branched graphene oxide composite coatings.
ultraviolet visible spectra (UV-vis), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) and X-ray photoelectronic energy spectrum (XPS), the results of the Raman spectrum provide evidence of successful aggregation of AM/AA on the surface of GO nanochips

. Thermal heavy analysis (TGA) reveals the amount of polymer branching to GO. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) map shows that the d-spacing of GO nanoparticles increases with the insertion of polymer chains.
    Potential applications as corrosion-resistant coatings
through field emission scanning electron microscopes (FESEM) and transmission electron microscopes (TEMs) have studied the shape of GMA and the dispersion of GO in aqueous solutions, and the results show that the polymer layer covers the surface of the GO sheet. The excellent dispersion of GO sheets in polymer substrates can significantly enhance the corrosion resistance of metal substrates, as GO sheets act as a physical barrier and certain polar substrates in the coating can intercept corrosive ions. The developed one-step co-gathering method is simple, fast and the prepared GMA is expected to be used as a corrosion-resistant coating.
the study was published in Organic Coatings Progress Volume 136, November 2019, 105222.
