Covestro TPU composite enhances the performance of high-performance sports shoes

Covestro stated that it is collaborating with a Chinese shoe designer to use its composite material solutions to further develop innovative footwear concepts, especially high-performance basketball shoes and foot-based running shoes.

The upper is made of Desmopan thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) fibers from Covestro , and the midsole is printed with thermoplastic polyurethane powder (TPU) by selective laser sintering (SLS) .

This pair of shoes also uses the Maezio carbon fiber reinforced TPU (CFRTP) developed by Covestro as the handle.

According to Covestro, for basketball shoe manufacturers who want to help relieve foot fatigue and provide sports comfort, the viscoelastic polyurethane foam placed on the inner lining of the socks is an option to optimize energy absorption and shock resistance.

The running shoe concept uses a waterproof INSQIN coating.
