.2000, the Global Outbreak Alert and Response Network was established
Geneva. At that time, the World Health Organization convened 67 major partners in global epidemiological surveillance and response to discuss the epidemics and the challenges of new diseases facing the world at the beginning of the twenty-first century.
during an outbreak, GOARN ensures that professionals are present where they are most needed. GOARN brings together human and technical resources to quickly identify, identify and respond to outbreaks of international importance.
Since its inception, GOARN has deployed more than 2,900 public health experts, including epidemiologists, doctors, nurses, logisticians, operations managers, risk communicators, social mobilizers, data analysts, entomologists, and more than 90 countries to respond to more than 130 infectious disease outbreaks.
To mark the 20th anniversary of GOARN, we are seeking contributions to original research and cutting-edge articles on various aspects of outbreak preparedness, response and recovery, covering a range of infectious diseases, including Ebola virus disease, yellow fever, dengue fever, H1N1, cholera and, most recently, the coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2).
draft articles include, but are not limited to, organizational capacity-building, emergency preparedness, training/simulation exercises, disease transmission patterns, feasibility studies, operational studies of field operations and deployments, and survivor follow-up. Other influential article topics can include ethics, research difficulties, funder initiatives, and community engagement.
