The research and application of graphene in the field of medical treatment has always been the research focus of experts, scholars and enterprises. The potential applications of graphene in nano-carrier drugs, bio-testing, tumor therapy, cell imaging, and the launch of graphene physiotherapy products will greatly contribute to the rapid development of the medical field. In order to enable more people to fully and deeply understand the application of graphene in the medical field, and better promote the application of graphene in the medical field, CGIA Research has carried out systematic research in the field of graphene medical field, this paper mainly from a patent perspective to analyze the application of graphene in the medical field development
    I. Global Patent Analysis in Graphene Medical Field
As of November 6, 2018, in the DeWitt Innovation Index (DII) database, the subject word "Graphene" was searched, and the results were screened, resulting in a total of 3022 patents in graphene medical field.
    (i) The number of graphene medical patents worldwide is increasing year by year
Figure 1 shows an annual distribution of the number of patent applications in the global graphene medical field, from which we can see that from 2004 to 2018, the number of patent applications as a whole showed an increasing trend. The number of patents per year was less than 10 before 2009, but nearly doubled between 2010 and 2014, and graphene medical research has entered a rapid development phase with the global research boom in graphene. The number of patent applications filed in 2017 reached 708, up 36.4% YoY, and the number of patent applications filed so far in 2018 is 548, with the number of patents expected to be flat or even higher by the end of the year than in 2017.figure

(ii) The number of patenters concentrated in the three countries of China, the United States and South Korea
based on the number of patent applications in the global graphene medical field and the number of patent patents, the annual trend distribution of the number of patent applications and the number of patent patenters in Figure 2 is obtained. This diagram not only visualizes the number of annual patents and patents, but also shows the development of patented technology in the field of graphene medical care. From the figure, it can be seen that the number of patents and the number of patents per year from 2009 to 2014 is almost equal, showing a positive growth trend, the number of patents since 2015 growth rate is greater than the growth rate of patenters, graphene in the medical field is being more and more industry attention.

Through further statistical analysis of patent rights issues in the global graphene medical field, there are 12 rights players with more than 20 graphene medical patents, 8 from China, 3 from Korea and 1 from the United States. All but IBM of the United States are colleges and universities. This also fully shows that universities and other scientific research institutions are the core strength of graphene medical research, which has a lot to do with the cycle and characteristics of medical research.
    3 Top10, a global patente in graphene medical(iii) Technology
Figure 4 gives the IPC classification number of top10 patent applications in the global graphene medical field, with patent applications mainly concentrated in G01N-027/327, C01B-031/04, G01N-027 /30, C12Q-001/68, A61P-035/00 and other ten directions, the largest number is G01N-027/327, the number of applications 378, accounting for 12.5%.

    (iv) Core patents
Figure 5 is the global graphene medical field patent reference frequency TOP10 patente arrangement chart, from which it can be seen that in top10 highly cited patents, the patente from the United States has 5, China 2, Germany, Australia and Singapore each have 1. The most frequently cited patents came from Harvard University, with 78 references. China's two high-frequency citation patents came from Beijing University of Science and Technology and Xiangtan University, respectively, with 29 and 27 references, respectively.

II, China graphene medical patent analysis
"2018 graphene technology patent analysis report" pointed out that the number of patent applications in China's graphene medical field a total of 719, mainly focused on drug carriers, DNA gene testing, artificial bones and other fields. Among them, the field with more applications was drug carriers, with 174 patent applications, accounting for 24.2% of the total number of applications. DNA genetic testing and artificial bone patent applications were followed by 55 and 48 patent applications, respectively, and a large number of patents in areas such as rich extraction, hydrogels and fluorescent markers. This fully demonstrates the industry's interest in graphene medical research and the desire to apply the specific properties of graphene to the medical industry.Table
1 is a statistical table of patent applicants in the field of graphene medical care in China, with a large number of patents in the field of graphene medicine where universities and research institutes are located, with the largest number of patents in The University of East China being 15 patents, followed by the number of patents from Jiangsu University, and 13 patents from Jiangnan University, Zhengzhou University and Suzhou Nanotechnology and Nanobiology Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The number of patents in enterprises is relatively small, Changzhou Carbon Yu, Chengdu Xinkeli, etc. in the field of graphene medical has been laid out. On the whole, China's graphene medical patents are concentrated in colleges and universities, the number of enterprise patents is relatively small.
Table 1 is a statistical table for patent applicants in the medical field of graphene in China
At present, the development of graphene is in the early stage of industrialization, and the application of graphene in the medical market is also in the early stage of development. But it has good potential in many areas of medicine and is expected to be a key key to the next medical revolution.
