Economic operation of the automotive industry in December 2020

In 2020, China's auto sales reached 2.5311 million units, the first in the world for 12 consecutive years, including new energy vehicle sales reached 1.367 million units, a record high.
sales in January and December were up 6.4% year-on-year, while auto production and sales were 2.84 million units and 2.831 million units, respectively, up 5.7% and 6.4% year-on-year, respectively.
January-December, auto production and sales reached 2.5225 million units and 2.5311 million units, respectively, down 2% and 1.9% year-on-year, respectively.
(i) Passenger car sales increased by 7.2% YoY in December, while passenger car production and sales reached 2.331 million units and 2.375 million units, respectively, up 6.5% YoY and 7.2% YoY.
models, car production and sales completed 1.042 million units and 1.047 million units, respectively, up 5.2% and 2.3% YoY, while SUV production and sales completed 1.118 million units and 1.138 million units, respectively, up 9.8% YoY and 14.2%; MPV production and sales completed 125,000 units and 143,000 units, respectively, down 10.5% and 3.2% YoY; and crossover passenger car production and sales were 47,000 units, with production up 13.6% YoY and sales down 1.8% YoY.
January-December, passenger car production and sales completed 19994,000 units and 20178,000 units, respectively, down 6.5% and 6% year-on-year, respectively. In terms of
models, car production and sales completed 9.189 million units and 9.275 million units, respectively, down 10% and 9.9% YoY, while SUV production and sales completed 9.398 million units and 9.461 million units, respectively, up 0.1% and 0.7% YoY; MPV production and sales completed 1.011 million units and 1.054 million units, respectively, down 26.8% and 23.8% YoY, while crossover passenger car production and sales completed 395,000 units and 388,000 units, respectively, down 1.7% and 2.9% YoY.
December, Chinese brand passenger car sales were 1.037 million units, up 12% YoY, accounting for 43.6% of total passenger car sales, up 1.9 percentage points YoY.
January-December, Chinese brand passenger cars sold 7.749 million units, down 8.1% YoY, accounting for 38.4% of total passenger car sales, and 0.8 percentage points YoY.
, car sales were 1.952 million units, down 3.9 percent year-on-year and 21 percent market share, SUV sales were 4.687 million units, down 5.4 percent year-on-year and 49.5 percent, and MPV sales were 722,000 units, down 30.6 percent year-on-year and 68.5 percent market share.
(II) Commercial vehicle sales increased by 2.4% YoY in December, while commercial vehicle production and sales reached 509,000 units and 456,000 units, respectively, up 2.3% YoY and 2.4% YoY. In terms of
models, truck production and sales completed 447,000 units and 394,000 units, respectively, an increase of 3.2% and 3.1% YoY, while passenger vehicle production and sales completed 62,000 units, down 4% and 2% YoY, respectively.
January-December, commercial vehicle production and sales reached 5.231 million units and 5.133 million units, respectively, an increase of 20% and 18.7% year-on-year, respectively. In terms of
sub-models, truck production and sales completed 4.778 million units and 4.685 million units, respectively, an increase of 22.9% and 21.7% YoY, while passenger vehicle production and sales completed 453,000 units and 448,000 units, respectively, a decrease of 4.2% and 5.6% YoY.
, December sales of new energy vehicles increased by 49.5% YoY in December, while production and sales of new energy vehicles reached 235,000 units and 248,000 units, respectively, an increase of 55.7% and 49.5% YoY.
models, the production and sales of pure electric vehicles completed 203,000 units and 211,000 units, respectively, an increase of 55.2% and 47.5% YoY; and 37,000 vehicles, up 69.2% and 71.6% year-on-year, respectively, while fuel cell vehicle production and sales completed 264 and 229 vehicles, respectively, down 81.3% and 83.7% year-on-year.
January-December, new energy vehicle production and sales reached 1.366 million units and 1.367 million units, respectively, an increase of 7.5% and 10.9% year-on-year, respectively.

, January-November, the main business income of key enterprises increased by 4.8% YoY January-November, the key enterprises (groups) of the automotive industry achieved a cumulative revenue of 374.344 billion yuan, an increase of 4.8% YoY;
35.5 percent year-on-year in April and December, while vehicle exports rose 35.5 percent year-on-year to 145,000 vehicles.

January-December, auto exports were 995,000 units, down 2.9% year-on-year.
