Cameroon's Ecomatin website reported on January 1 that the European Union recently released 2.
771 billion CFA francs to support the fight against food insecurity
in northwest and southwest Kazakhstan.
According to data released by Kazakh's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, 1,051,000 people in Cameroon were severely food insecure in October-December 2022, compared to 2,023,000 in June-August 2022
.
It is reported that 60 per cent of the population affected by food insecurity is located in Cameroon's northwestern, south-western and extreme northern regions, of which seven provinces in the north-west region are affected, five provinces in the south-west region and four provinces in the extreme north region
.
The Russia-Ukraine conflict has further exacerbated inflation, and if nothing is done, the population affected by food insecurity may rise
again.
The World Food Programme said it would increase its support
to these areas.
