Export of aquatic products is still a bright spot in Vietnam's economy

　　Nguyen Guangxiong, deputy director of the Fisheries Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam, said that in the first half of 2021, the total aquatic production reached 4.

　　Nguyen Huai Nam, deputy secretary-general of the Vietnam Aquatic Products Processing and Export Association (VASEP), said that although the difficulties caused by the new crown pneumonia epidemic continue to be encountered, the growth of Vietnamese aquatic product exports is still remarkable.
In the first half of 2021, the export volume increased compared with the same period in 2020.

On the whole, the export value of Vietnamese aquatic products to major markets has soared

For example, exports to Russia increased by 61%, to the United States increased by 37%, to Europe increased by 21%, to the "Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement on Trans-Pacific Partnership" signatories increased by 12%, and only decreased by 6% to the Chinese market
.
Currently, Vietnamese shrimp is in a leading position in terms of market share in many major markets such as the European Union and the United States

This result has benefited from the rebound in consumer demand in major markets and other potential markets, especially for Vietnamese aquatic product exporters taking full advantage of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA)

　　Experts in the industry predict that demand for shrimp imports from countries around the world will increase again, especially in major markets such as Europe, the United States, Japan, China and South Korea

In the second half of 2021, with the advantages of various free trade agreements, Vietnam's shrimp exports are forecast to continue to rise

However, although the export market has released a "happy" signal, Vietnam's fishing industry will face a series of difficulties and challenges

　　Deputy Director Ruan Guangxiong stated that in order to achieve the annual export growth target, the General Administration of Fisheries has decided to strengthen environmental monitoring and early warning work in concentrated breeding areas; strengthen quality inspections, check the authenticity of cross-border export cargo certificates, and check the conditions for ensuring the safety of aquaculture food

In addition, the fishery continued to work with relevant departments, industries and local governments to take measures to address the European Commission (EC)’s warnings against illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing (IUU) in Vietnam
