Schematic diagram of the physiological response threshold of worker bees for tachykinin signals

Worker bees have a highly refined division of labor, some are nurturing bees, and some are gathering bees.

The author of the paper Han Bin introduced that bees are one of the important economic insects that have been domesticated artificially and have a breeding history of more than 3,000 years.

The study used the bee's beak extension reflex and found that nurturing bees, pollen-collecting bees, and nectar-collecting bees all have significantly different response thresholds to larvae, pollen, and sucrose solutions.

Further neuropeptideomics studies have found that tachykinin signaling pathways play a key role in regulating response thresholds.

The study also found that tachykinin signals play an important role in regulating the differences in collecting and nurturing behavior between Chinese honeybees and Italian honeybees.
