A study by Boston University School of Medicine showed that patients with neo-coronary pneumonia are significantly less likely to die or become seriously ill if they have sufficient vitamin D reserves in their bodies, according to the German news agency. The researchers analyzed blood samples from 235 hospitalized patients with neocyclind pneumonia and found that those with "adequate vitamin D" in their bodies "significantly reduced the risk of adverse clinical outcomes."
, co-author of the study, published Friday in the journal Public Library of Science Biology, said it was "direct evidence" that adequate vitamin D could "reduce" the "complications" of infection with neocoopon pneumonia.
analysis showed that patients with adequate vitamin D were "51.5 percent less likely to die" than those classified as "inadequate", the report said.
another study of 489 patients this month by the University of Chicago found that patients with vitamin D deficiency were "almost twice as likely" to be positive for new crown pneumonia as others.
People usually get vitamin D through the sun, which means that cold countries that are generally deficient in this vitamin can get worse if thousands of people are trapped indoors by a blockade in spring and early summer.
, Hollik said vitamin D supplementation also increases the likelihood of fighting influenza and other respiratory diseases, according to the report.
