    The application of genome editing technology in plants is often restricted by the dependence on genotype and low regeneration efficiency in plant genetic transformation


     

    Gao Caixia's research group from the Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences established a gene gun-mediated transient expression system for the GRF-GIF1 complex, which improves the regeneration ability of wheat and breaks the genotype limitation of genetic transformation, realizing efficient genome editing


     

    The transient expression of mTaGRF4-TaGIF1 realizes an efficient wheat genome editing system that does not rely on plant genotype restrictions, and provides important technical support for wheat genome editing-mediated genetic improvement
