From 0:00 to 2400 hours on August 8, 31 provinces (autonomous regions, municipalities directly under the Central Government) and Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 23 new confirmed cases, of which 8 cases were imported from abroad (5 cases in Guangdong, 2 cases in Shanghai, 1 case in Zhejiang), 15 cases in China (all in Xinjiang);
45 new cases were cured and discharged from hospital on the same day, 2102 close contacts were removed from medical observation, and the number of serious cases increased by 1 from the previous day.
107 confirmed cases (including 1 case of severe illness) and 6 suspected cases have been imported from outside China. A total of 2134 confirmed cases, a total of 2027 cases of cured discharge, no deaths.
As of 2400 hours on August 8, 31 provinces (autonomous regions, municipalities directly under the Central Government) and Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps had reported 817 confirmed cases (of which 43 were serious cases), 79,168 cases had been cured and discharged from hospital, 4,634 cumulative deaths had been reported, 84,619 confirmed cases had been reported and 6 suspected cases had been reported. A total of 800,268 close contacts were traced and 25,822 close contacts were still under medical observation.

Regions.
