The Center for Food Safety (Centre) of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department announced today (January 5) that in response to a report from the United States authorities that Benton County, Washington State, the United States has confirmed an outbreak of highly pathogenic H5 avian influenza, the Center will ban the county’s Poultry meat and poultry products (including poultry eggs) are imported to protect public health in Hong Kong
.

A spokesperson for the center said that Hong Kong imported about 250,000 metric tons of frozen poultry meat and about 482 million poultry eggs from the United States from January to November last year
