Pharma Network February 19 - In response to media reports questioning the approval process for the emergency use of the Koxing vaccine in Hong Kong, it is mistaken to assume that the Government has lowered the standard for approving the Koxing vaccine, and the HKSAR Government said on the night of February 18 that the report was not consistent with the facts.
THE SAR Government indicated that on 25 January, under the Prevention and Control of Diseases (Vaccine Use) Regulations (Chapter 599K) (Regulations), the Secretary for Food and Health of the SAR Government submitted an application for approval of its new crown vaccine for emergency use. Submission of supporting documents and information; the Advisory Committee of Experts held two meetings on the application on 10 February and 16 February respectively to review the information and reach consensus on the proposal submitted to the Secretary for Food and Health of the SAR Government for the approval of the Koxing vaccine, establishing that the benefits of the Kosing vaccine as a prevention of coronavirus disease 2019 outweigh the risks.

THE SAR Government means that the advisory committee's examination of the data and the Government's approval process is rigorous, comprehensive and meets the relevant requirements under all the Regulations, which is no different from the procedure for approving the previous new crown vaccine approved for emergency use in Hong Kong.
