Kazakhstan implements tariff quota management on imports of white sugar and raw cane sugar

The LS website reported on July 23 that the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan issued an order on July 19, 2021, deciding that sugar (HS code 170199100) imported into Kazakhstan’s customs borders for the production of sugary foods , as well as those used for industrial processing Raw sucrose (HS code 170113, 170114) is subject to tariff quota management .
Duty-free import quotas for the above-mentioned commodities shall not exceed 134,400 tons, and shall be valid from May 15 to September 30, 2021 .

According to statistics, from January to May 2021, Kazakhstan imported 104,600 tons of white sugar, and the main sources of imports were Russia (92,100 tons), Belarus (11,500 tons) and Tajikistan (10,000 tons); imported raw cane sugar was 96,900 tons Tons, the main source countries are Brazil (73,700 tons) and Mexico (23,200 tons), and a small amount of imports from Russia
