According to Xinhua News Agency, Kenya is expected to export fresh avocados to China soon .

Ojepat Okisegere , chief executive ofthe Fresh Produce Consortium of Kenya (FPC Kenya) , said that access-related matters are currently being discussed .
The Kenya Phytosanitary Service and relevant Chinese personnel are expected to jointly inspect and resolve some technical issues to ensure that the avocados exported to China meet quality and safety standards .

At present, China's imported fresh avocados mainly come from Peru, Chile and Mexico.
If Kenyan fresh avocados get access, the country will become the first country in Africa to export fresh avocados to China
    .

In April 2018, China signed an agreement to allow Kenyan frozen avocados to be exported to China
    .
In September 2019, the first batch of 40 boxes of Kenyan frozen avocados arrived at Shanghai Pudong International Airport
    .
In order to prevent the introduction of plant epidemics, China requires Kenyan avocados to have their peels and pits removed, quick-frozen at minus 30 degrees Celsius for no less than 30 minutes, carry out pest control treatment, and store and transport them below minus 18 degrees Celsius
    .

Kenya's avocado season starts in mid-February every year and lasts until November
    .
Since 2017, Kenya has become the largest exporter of avocados in Africa and the top ten avocado producers in the world
    .
But Kenya's market potential is under-exploited, with avocado exports accounting for only 10% of the country's production
    .
The Kenyan government once pointed out that the Chinese market is expected to import 40% of Kenya's avocados, making it the country's largest overseas market
