Avocados are Peru's third major export fruit , supplying global markets year-round and bringing in more than $1 billion in revenue for Peru every year
    .
However, in February this year, Peru’s avocado exports decreased by 6% year-on-year, and the export value decreased by 19%.
The main reason is that the conflict between Russia and Ukraine affected the transportation of fruits
    .

In the first two months of 2022, Peruvian avocado exports amounted to 18,355 tons, with a total value of about $41 million
    .
Compared with the same period in 2021, the export volume increased by only 1%, but the export value decreased by 11%
    .
Among them, Peru's avocado exports in January were still improving, with the export volume increasing by 24% year-on-year and the export value increasing by 14%
    .
In February, the export volume and export value of avocados both declined
    .

In February last year, Russia was the third largest export destination for Peruvian avocados, accounting for 11% of Peru's total exports
    .
Only one year later, Peru shipped only 989 tons of avocados to Russia in February this year, with a total value of $2 million
    .
Compared to the same period last year, the volume fell by 49% and the value of exports fell by 34%
    .
At the same time, the Chinese market overtook Russia and became the third largest export destination for Peruvian avocados in February with an export value of US$2.
    38 million
    .

The main consumer markets for Peruvian avocados are in Europe
    .
Affected by the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, the total amount of avocados shipped from Peru to the Netherlands was only 5,397 tons, with a total value of US$11 million, down 17% from 5,166 tons in the same period last year
    .
In addition to logistical disruptions, rising gas, oil and food prices in Europe have all affected consumer demand for avocados
    .

The export destinations of Peruvian avocados are relatively concentrated, and more than half of them are shipped to Europe and the United States
    .
Peruvian avocado exports have not yet entered the peak season, and if the European economy does not improve in the coming months, Peruvian exporters will have to find other markets
