Many people with food allergies do not know about oral immunotherapy

A study of a nationally representative sample of American households with geographic, clinical, and socioeconomic diversity found that 72% of people did not know what oral immunotherapy (OIT) was before the survey

In the United States, food allergies are a serious health problem, affecting approximately 8% of children and 10% of adults

"With the continuous expansion of oral immunotherapy and the emergence of other therapies, it is important to ensure fair access to all treatments for food allergy," said senior author Ruchi Gupta, MD and Master of Public Health

781 respondents from 50 states completed the survey
