Mitsubishi Chemical said on June 21 that it would acquire the PVC composites business of Welset Plast Extrusions in Mumbai, India, and that the two sides had reached an agreement to close the deal this fall.
Welset PVC Composites has a leading market share in the Indian healthcare sector and a solid market base in India and ASEAN. Mitsubishi Chemical is mainly engaged in the production and sale of thermoplastic elastomer in India and is expanding its business in automotive applications such as airbag materials. The acquisition will enable Mitsubishi Chemical to enter the medical PVC composites sector in India and further leverage Welset's marketing channels and infrastructure to strengthen its PVC and thermoplastic elastomer businesses in India and ASEAN markets.
